Satellite events

Satellite events are full-/half-day workshops or symposia that are not part of the four-day programme but will be of interest to participants at the Global Evidence Summit. The satellites further the event goals, and foster interaction, and the development of partnerships, and have broad appeal across sectors.

Comprehensive systematic review training programme

 6 - 10 September, 9:00-16:30
Venue: Park Inn Hotel, Cape Town

Participants who successfully complete the programme can become Certified Reviewers, accredited for a period of two years as authors in the JBI Database of Systematic Reviews and Implementation Reports (JBISRIR), a refereed online journal, the content of which is indexed in Embase, Scopus, Mosby’s Index (Elsevier), CINAHL (EBSCO) and MEDLINE.

Qualitative Evidence Synthesis Workshop

: Sunday 10 September, 09:00-13:00; Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th 09:00 - 16:00
Venue: TBC


This 3-day workshop aims:

  1. To introduce participants to the principles of conducting and interpreting qualitative evidence syntheses.
  2. To provide participants the opportunity to use some of the tools and methods for synthesising qualitative evidence with real-life examples.
  3. To introduce participants to CERQual, a method for assessing confidence in individual findings in qualitative evidence syntheses (very similar to the GRADE approach for quantitative reviews).

This half-day workshop targets current and potential Rayyan’s users. This is for people who are involved in the production of systematic and other types of reviews and are interested in using automation to help expedite their work.

Evidence into policy into practice:
Showcasing the global Practical Approach to Care Kit (PACK) programme 


Venue: Knowledge Translation Unit, University of Cape Town Lung Institute,  Mowbray 

The PACK programme tackles health systems issues so that primary care practitioners can deliver evidence-based care that is policy-aligned and feasible for their setting. These repeated half-day workshops introduce the KTU’s guideline development work and training strategy, and showcase the stakeholders that implement the PACK programme and the implementation research that underpins it.

Living Systematic Review Network meeting and workshop (closed event)
